The duffel bags, name tags, mess kits, canteens, ponchos ,Count Off Numbers and other things necessary for "survival" at the Lord's Boot Camp issued. The missions conference over , and orientation going over every rule in addition to the exceptions the rules for everything from no talking while in line at the mess hall to the laws of the Obstacle Course and the punishments for failure to adhere complete, the training was ready to begin in in earnest . Each team member was "numbered", given a number starting at one in order of arrival. These numbers , drilled over and over and over in a practice called Count Off was used on the field and during travel to insure each member of the team was present and accounted for in a timely, orderly fashion. Day 1 of our Boot Camp Training Began ! 5:30 am (yes AM folks) we were aroused from a not so restful night of slumber spent in a not so comfortable tent with "Rise and Shine" from one of our four leaders.
This was one of the Finland Team's tents FIVE MINUTES the leader called, urgently all 15 of Finland's team members hurried to dress , lace up boots and get out to the appointed spot. Followed by a march to the latrine we were in line and as ready as we would ever be for the dreaded Obstacle Course(OC). The bus, the books of the Bible, wilderness, 10 plagues of Egypt, the tunnel, the mountain of tires , the maze, the legendary Slough of Despond, more wilderness, the needles eye, the Red Sea, Jacob's Ladder, and finally the wall. Each obstacle built and designed to test the mental, physical and spiritual strengthen of each team and each team member. Obstacle course finished, somewhat successfully , we were ready to tackle the rest of the day.
(above) the Finland team finished the OC on their last day of training! The "rest " of the day consisted of personal devotions at 7:15 A time when the hussel of boot camp stops and all the teams and their leaders stop for a half hour of prayer and Bible reading. after devotions comes an hour of Bible classes, followed by blocklaying, then lunch. After lunch the Finland team had their free hour, followed by classes on digging, concrete, trusses, steel tying, and layout . Each team served KP at least twice sometime during Boot Camp, either in the kitchen serving food or on the dishline supervising the other teams as they washed their dishes and cleaning the dishes from the kitchen. Yes, guys really can learn how to wash dishes !
Some of the gals on the team as Finland serves Dishline KP From 4:15 to 5:00 the team had bath and laundry time, followed by supper at 5:15 and Rally at 7:30.
The girls from the Finland team help each other haul water from the mote running behind the teams' camp site to wash their hair during the Team's Bath & Laundry time.
